I would never have thought of that!

This is another idea from stampinpretty.com

What a creative way to use a border-style stamp! I would never have thought to repeat it to create a patterned background. This card is so pretty!

I Remember When This Happened

A chuckle for today... This sign is in Welsh and English. The English-speaking office sent an e-mail requesting that the English portion of the sign be translated in to Welsh. They got their Welsh response and put it on to the sign. What they didn't realize was that the Welsh portion basically reads, "I am currently away from the office. Please forward all files that require translating."

HAHA!

Sunday Finds From the Front Page

I missed doing my Etsy finds last week, so here are two this week. They are both from the font page and (in my opinion) awesome!

First, is a skirt from ThongbaiTatong of the Netherlands. This skirt is so cheerful and happy. It looks extra comfortable too!

Second, is a beautiful red apple mug from StudioElan, a fellow Canadian :) I love the vibrant red colour of this mug as well as its uniqueness. Perhaps, it goes back to my jealousy of those who can make pottery, either way, I like it!

Memory Box Program

I found this website and thought it was a great idea! It is a memory box program; volunteers make artsy boxes and send them off. The boxes are then given to parents of newborns that have just passed away, to be used for their keepsakes.

The program started in 1998 and have provided over 113, 000 boxes for families.

Fresh Ideas!

It was a crazy weekend/Monday. My parents asked me to 'babysit' for them while they went away for the weekend. Baby sitting for my parents involves dogsitting, catsitting, horse sitting (there's 2 quarter horses, 4 miniature horses, and one mini donkey) and housesitting. I was also working this weekend and trying to plan a surprise birthday party for my Mom's birthday (yesterday). Mothers are hard people to be sneaky around!

Anyways, my friend found this blog that I wanted to share with you. It's called "Stampin Pretty" and it is fantastic! The lady who owns the blog is a Stampin Up demonstrator; I have a lot of Stampin Up stuff and this blog is great for getting new ideas.

Happy St Patrick's Day

(A photo I took in Dublin in 2004)

An Irish Blessing for all you Irish out there: May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand. Happy St. Patty's day everyone!

One Million Giraffes!

If anyone has pictures of giraffes that they have hand-made themselves, take a photo and send it along!

This person is collecting giraffes and wants to get 1 million before the end of the year. This sounds like fun and I am going to send a couple :)

Sunday Special

When I saw this photo, my jaw just dropped. The butterflies that this artist makes are absolutely gorgeous and ridiculously tiny! This red-spotted purple butterfly is 12 times SMALLER than actual size with a 2mm wingspan! WOW!

Vinyl Cafe with Stuart Mclean

Most Canadians will be familiar with the name Stuart Mclean. He does the Vinyl Cafe show for the CBC.

Tonight is his show in the city of Lethbridge and very randomly, I ended up helping his crew set up the stage today! I did my morning shift at workplace #1 and then shuffled into workplace #2 after lunch only to be asked if I could help with the setup for the show tonight. The original helper from workplace #2 was unable to go so I got volunteered! I also got to do it on company time so I got paid too! Nice.

Cabin Fever

I started at my third job today- my usual seasonal work at a local garden centre- and had a great time! It's always nice to be around growing things! The official start of spring is less than 10 days away and the grass here in town is just starting to grow (despite the freezing temperatures).

I am nearly climbing the walls in excitement to get outside finally and go hiking, camping, gardening, painting outdoors...anything outdoors and in the sun :)

(photo: climbing Mt Snowdon in Wales. Snowdon is the peak on the far right. We climbed to the peak via the 3 peaks and the long ridge to the left of it.)

Lump of Clay

It's Sunday which means I get to show off something I found whilst browsing on Etsy. Today I'm featuring a lovely red cookie jar.

When I was an art student in high school, I remember getting to try pottery at the wheel. I loved the feel of the clay in my hands. It was so cooling to the touch and pliable in the fingers, and when it was spinning on the wheel it felt so smooth. I loved it!! The only problem was that I was TERRIBLE at it! For some reason my items never stayed perfectly centered and I never went down deep enough on the inside. I always ended up with a deformed object that had a base of about 2 inches.

Anyways, to this day, I admire anyone who can turn a lump of clay into something beautiful on a pottery wheel. When this cookie jar caught my eye, I just had to share it!

Off to find cookies now...

Simon's Cat

Gotta love Simon Tofield's work! I just got the book not too long ago and I definitely recommend it as a coffee table book! It's great how effective his drawings are without using any words at all.

If you're not familiar with his work, just click on the picture or visit YouTube.

My First Treasury- Flirtacious & Fiery

Yesterday my treasury magically came back to me! I had tried the other day to make one but I got an 'error' and was sooo sad! Somebody managed to find it for me though which was very nice of them. I didn't get a chance to take a screen shot of it when it was up and running but here's a screen shot of the poster sketch. It'll have to do. :)

*it may be too small to see, but in the tabs I have open, you will see the all important "Farmville". LOL!

Closing Ceremonies

I absolutely loved the closing ceremonies yesterday night and my favourite part was definitely the 'stereotypes' section with the giant table hockey (with the kid on roller blades as the puck), men in canoes, lumberjacks and the flying moose and beavers. Michael Buble did an excellent job of singing from atop a Mountie hat! I found this photo on the CBBC website--the kids division of BBC. Just looking at this photo brings a smile on my face :)
